How to read a label
In keeping with the law, the labels of cheese sold at self-serve counters in stores must provide certain information in both official languages. Thus, cheese that is repackaged by the retailer must indicate:
1. The net weight of the piece of cheese in grams
2. The name of the cheese
3. The date of packaging
4. The shelf-life, commonly known as the “Best before” date
5. The name and address of the retailer
6. The list of the ingredients and their percentage, in descending order
7. The fat content (M.F.) and the percentage of humidity or water content
8. The nutrition facts (nutritive value) of the product
